I wanted to try it out and ended up making a card for a friend I haven't seen in a bit who is a cat lover as well.
I colored in the images with my Prismacolor pencils. I didn't smooth out my coloring the way I should have but it can always be fixed later.
I knew I had some Lawn Fawn and found an older holiday set - Deck the Halls in with my Christmas items. I decided to use my GinaK Wreath Builder to really shake this up. I also had some doily's in the closet which I thought would add something different to the card base. I colored it some ink blending.
It is a set that I purchased not only the stamps/dies but also the newer mask stencil. I won't lie there was a learning curve with the masks and my card is far from perfect. But I know my recipient will love it regardless as it is handmade.
They are genius and called Turnabout stamps. They make card making a breeze. You pick how many turns you want to do, I did all 4, and then pick the inks for each turn.
This card is a little off as it was my first try but I have figured out that you need to really have your card centered right in those little marks on their jig for this pattern to turn out perfectly, or as close as possible.
Of those the Glitz glitter gel intrigued me the most. Yes, me the one that HATES glitter wanted to really try out this product. Can I say magic! No glitter all over my workspace but the glitter shine on the finished product.
Of course I had to try out the black and then using the white I added colored with some of her ink that I had also purchased. Because of this I had this weird blob of purple glitz in the corner of my paper that I had to cut away. The idea of cutting along the design came to me today while trying to figure out how to make this look acceptable for a card. I glued my image to a black background, white embossed a sentiment, popped this up with craft foam, matted on another piece of cardstock that matches my image then the whole thing was glued to a white card base. I added some sequins for some additional shine.
I LOVE how this turned out, what do you think?
Sometimes you just want to read a book or walk the mall with a girlfriend and get a Starbucks.
This weeks challenge was to use a sentiment die as your focal point. I really wanted to use my Bold Borders Wave die for this card, the idea was already in my head, so I stamped a Backgrounds Basic stamp onto Kraft cardstock using Kraft ink then die cut the paper. With some subtle patterned paper behind this border die it truly makes the birthday sentiment pop. Here is my card -
You can find the challenge here.
I absolutely love everything that the DT creates but Dawn McVey is my favorite. You can find her here.
This is the card that I chose for my inspiration.
Hmmmm busy and not sharing my creations it would seem.
Today I needed to make another birthday card for a family member and at the same time create something that I could post for the challenge this week over at PTI. Who doesn't like the possibility of winning a GC to their store? Here is the link to the post if you want to join in PTI.
Anyway, if you know me at all you know I just love everything that Dawn McVey creates so I am using her idea as the base for my card.
Here is her card...

Isn't the whole design just beautiful!

Now I didn't have any of the items she used so I improvised with stamp/dies in my stash. Here is my card...

I thought it would be fun to use some of her products that I haven't used in awhile. I also used a holiday set as my flower borders on this birthday card, love the simplicity of that set.

The challenge was to use a set off of the retiring list.
I have had this set for quite some time and haven't really used it yet. This was my perfect opportunity. At first I tried to do some stamping but then realized that the images pre-printed would look perfect after cutting them out with the matching dies.
I was so happy how quickly this came together being that I wanted to get this done on a work night.
I was going to quickly upload my photos using PhotoBucket to no avail. That website drives me nutty. So a quick blog post and off I go.
Here are 2 of my cards that I have made this year. I used some really cute stamps. The snowmen are available on SimonSays online store.
I needed a birthday card for an Aunt who is turning 97 in a week. I just loved my new Ivy & Bloom stamp & die set. Aiden's cards was a little more challenging. I really wanted to use Tim Holtz Crazy Dogs stamps and stagger them making it look like a crowd was wishing this little guy a happy birthday. My first attempt ended up being my spring board for coloring and then it was tossed in the trash. My second attempt I used different tools to color. I still had to stamp and then stamp again on sticky notes to cut out masks. Here is what that looked like.
I stamped 3 birthday hats on the dogs to represent Aiden's 3rd birthday. I also stamped one of the dogs on the envelope for some added fun.
